Emberlap Privacy Policy
Last updated: [pending legal-reviewed publication]
1. Who we are
Emberlap is a personal-project iOS and watchOS app developed by Cristian Zuniga. Contact: info@emberlap.com.
2. The marketing site (emberlap.com)
This website does not collect any personal data from visitors. We do not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting scripts. We do not run any forms or capture any information you type. The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps; Microsoft’s CDN may log standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, request path) for operational reasons under Microsoft’s privacy terms — we do not access or use those logs.
3. The Emberlap app
The Emberlap iOS and watchOS app uses the following Apple-managed services. All data stays under your Apple ID’s control. Emberlap does not run any backend servers and does not transmit your data to any party other than Apple’s services.
- HealthKit (Apple Health). With your explicit permission, Emberlap reads your heart-rate samples during workouts and writes completed workouts back to Apple Health. This data lives on your device and in your iCloud Health database, controlled entirely by Apple. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Emberlap.
- CloudKit (iCloud). Your completed workout history is stored in your private iCloud database via Apple’s CloudKit service. This data syncs across your own Apple devices and is never visible to us. You can delete it any time by deleting the app and its data from your iCloud settings.
- StoreKit (App Store). When you purchase the Pro Unlock in-app purchase (post-launch), Apple handles payment processing entirely. Emberlap receives only the receipt confirmation that Apple provides, which does not include payment-method information.
4. What we do NOT do
- We do not run any servers that collect, store, or process your data.
- We do not use third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no telemetry SDK of any kind).
- We do not use third-party advertising networks.
- We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your data to any third party.
- We do not require an account, login, or sign-up for the Emberlap app.
5. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or port any data the Emberlap app handles. Because that data lives in your Apple Health and iCloud databases, you exercise these rights through Apple’s tools (iOS Settings, the Health app, iCloud.com), not through us.
6. EU/UK users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or other GDPR-equivalent jurisdictions, the rights described in Section 5 apply with full force under the GDPR. Additionally, you have:
- The right to know what personal data is being processed (answered in Section 3 above: only what you explicitly grant via Apple’s permission prompts).
- The right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.
- The right to object to processing.
For any GDPR-related question, contact info@emberlap.com.
7. California users (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the rights described in Section 5 apply with full force under the CCPA and CPRA. Specifically, you have the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. Emberlap does not “sell” or “share” personal data as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
8. Children
Emberlap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that a child has used the app and wishes to discuss data, contact info@emberlap.com.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via the app or this website.
